Refined beauty - 3 Days of Design, Copenhagen

Modern interieur in Kopenhagen met houten wandplanken met glazen, design hanglamp en grote metalen vaas met bloemen bij een raam.

Three days in Copenhagen, surrounded by timeless design, pure materials and quiet beauty. What struck me was the subtle harmony between Danish and Japanese design – two worlds that find common ground in simplicity, craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Without embellishment. Without haste.

It is precisely in the small things that the power lies: a perfectly chosen material, a line, a ray of light. A wonderful example of this is the Dinesen/Pawson apartment. Equally special: the new lamp by Flos, designed by architect Tobia Scarpa – son of Carlo Scarpa, one of my favourite architects.

Between the inspiring presentations, I cycled along the carefully constructed one-way cycle paths through a city that breathes culture, architecture and clarity. These days brought me back to the essence – and to enjoying delicious, pure food.

This experience has further deepened my appreciation for both Danish and Japanese design. Their shared focus on simplicity, quality and humanity fits seamlessly with what I myself stand for in design and vision.
