28_08_1997   The beginning of ANTE QUERCUS

My adventure with ANTE QUERCUS began 29 years ago

Driven by a pure passion for refined beauty.
Flowers, plants, natural materials, design, and interior decor.

The name ANTE QUERCUS originated at the head of Eikenlaan, the place where it all began. Ante, meaning “before.” Quercus, the Latin word for “oak.”
A name that has grown with me all these years.

No business plan. Never had one, actually. But I did have strong intuition, a creative spirit, and the confidence to follow my own path. That path has continued to evolve over the past 29 years. It’s now been four years without a physical store. A deliberate change that created space to delve deeper. From individual elements to comprehensive projects, in which interior design, architecture, light, pure materials, and the outdoors increasingly form a single whole. Like the Quercus: ever more deeply rooted, yet with room to continue growing. What has remained the same all these years is my way of seeing things.I don’t see beauty in just one discipline. To me, interior design, architecture, art, fashion, nature, light, color, and materials all speak the same language.

Beauty lives in the details.

For me, that’s where the difference lies. Where others stop, I look further. Simpler, purer, more refined.

The art of omission.

Until only what truly adds something remains, and a sense of calm emerges.

The art of letting go.

Until only what truly adds value remains, and a sense of calm sets in. When everything is in the right balance. This is what you feel.

For me, an interior design project is a success when, ten years later, a client can still say, “It makes me happy every day.” Entrepreneurship doesn’t always follow a straight path. There are moments of growth, change, doubt, and redefining direction.

And perhaps that’s what I’ve learned most over the past 29 years: to keep tuning into what makes me happy. To stay true to myself and follow my own path. Not because that’s how it’s supposed to be, but because it suits me. One thing has remained the same throughout all these years: creating from intuition. This summer has done me good. Spending more time outdoors, a little more distance, and space for new ideas. Rediscovering where I want to go and what makes my energy flow.

In nature, I feel what inspires me.

29 years of ANTE QUERCUS—driven by passion and intuition.

On to the 30th year. ❤️
